I am willing to bet that in 2010 goes on, the way of on-page and off-page search engine optimization will differ as we know it. I think we will see a transition towards client factors in deciding SERP results. That combined with advanced personal SERP results and we’ll be seeing a large transformation of the searchers experience with Bing and the other SEs. Every search result won’t be created alike, take a look at things like user interaction, bounce rate, bounce time, etc… Put your energy on a better user experience all around, and I think you’ll see better results in 2010.

I believe you’re right on, we will see certain changes in algorithms but the fact that you need links won’t likely change. For one, links leave a trail all over the web for people to follow back to your site (increasing not only rank but visibility). For two, having those links so that people ‘can’ follow them back to your site and can say to Google ‘this place has votes’ will still have an impact on your ranking – it increases visibility as a whole.
So I have to disagree that sole energy should be placed on better user experience alone (if that was your inference)…however that should ALWAYS be a factor just as links and visibility via creating a trail of links for people to come across should ALWAYS be a factor. You’ve got to have both and if you do, you’ll fare better than the person who only has one or the other…stay ahead of the game =)
And this is one reason that our service is more helpful than a basic automated solution (although the right ones don’t hurt to use provided they are used in conjunction with the more natural, hand-crafted, types). We build links in visible places on valuable properties that a) give you a ‘good’ juicy vote for your site and b) are in places that people may be able to actually find and follow the link back so it’s a double-hitter rather than some long lost link placed who knows where were the only thing it might do is give you a vote at best, and maybe a not-so-juicy vote at that =)
